I love making cutesy little crafts to gift and share with my family. Cute, fun and simple! Crafts that are quick and easy to make. Especially crafts that are easy for all ages to make. My cousin and her 3 kids are always ready to craft away! So I wanted to create something fun that would be good for all ages. I loved seeing all the different bookmark crafts and came up with a cute idea.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Scrap Paper (i used scrapbook paper that was v-day themed and left over from old projects).
- Cardstock or Blank Cards
- Mod Podge
- Decorative glass stones
- paper clips
hot glue gunSuper Glue
- foam craft brush
Step 1: Check your stones for any scratches or chips. I always pick out the largest without many imperfections. Clean them with rubbing alcohol or just wash them well with soap and water. Then let them dry completely.
Step 2: I always take my stone and place it over the section of paper I want to use, then trace around it with a pencil. After I do this step I cut out the paper, just inside the line I’ve Drawn, to make sure it just fits on the flat underside of the stone. This way I do not have excess paper sticking out from behind when i adhere to the back of the stone.
Step 3: Next flip over your stone, so the flat side is up, and add your first layer of Mod Podge. I just did a light coat. Then add your paper, make sure the design is face down in the glue, so you will see it thru the stone. It takes a couple of minutes to dry so this is a good time to do all the others you are making.
Step 4: After the first part is dry go over the back side of the stone with the second coat of Mod Podge and allow to dry. This will seal the paper to the stone. Now that the second coat is dry you can glue your stone to the tip of the paperclip. Make sure you place it where you are still able to attach to book pages correctly. If you place it to low the paperclip will not be able to attach to pages.Once the glue dries you are ready to use. (Update: I originally used a Hot Glue Gun, but when I used my bookmark, I popped off my stone. So I decided, before gifting my bookmarks, to super glue them instead so they would not break when in use.)
Step 5: Now grab your card stock or blank cards. I used my blank cards for crafting. Then cut them in half along the folded line, and then again in halves. So I ended up with 4 small cards, about the size of pre-made valentines you buy in the store. (See pic below.)
Step 6: All you need now is whatever stickers and embellishments you would like to use to create your card. I bought these super cute stickers at the Dollar Tree. I fell in love with them!! They are so cute!! Next cut a Slit in the card to hold your bookmark using an Exacto knife. Be careful with this step not to tear the papers.(I will admit, I am not the best at using my Exacto Knife.) When adding your bookmark into the slot be extra careful NOT to put pressure on the glass bead. I popped off one or two while inserting them. So I had to re-glue them to the paperclip.
And here is the cute finished product!!
I hope you found this project easy and fun. Below I have added a few other blog projects that inspired today’s post. Don’t be shy check them out!
